I like ducks. There are too many bobble-head dolls in the world; I figure the maximum number should be around twenty-three. There is no governor anywhere. Fnord. Napalm jokes are not as amusing as some people think they are. Never eat anything bigger than your head. Remain calm. Kinky Friedman is a very funny fella. Good music can be painful. Watch your head.

Fridays on the Lawn

I've said it before - Wilson, NC, is a terrific place to live. Just a few blocks from our house is the restored and renovated Wilson County Public Library, and the City of Wilson is presenting a number of free fairs this summer. Mrs. Wiggy and I attended the first. Not a lot to say, I'll let the photos do the talking this time.

Veronica Creech - she works for the city and helped put this thing together.

A young lady and her balloon.

Velcro Wall. Weird fun.

Sprinkler to keep things cool. A very good idea, and the kids loved it.

Summer Fun,

Wiggy

Mrs. Wiggy and I had a great time! We had originally planned to just drop by, say hello to a few friends we know whom we knew would be there, and then split. But, the music was great (good cover bands doing music ranging from Tejano to Otis Redding to Santana, wow) and the crowd was having fun. The hot dogs and soda were subsidized by the city - four dogs and two sodas were $1.50. How cool is that?

There are at least two more of these things this summer, we're looking forward to it. And Second City Comedy is coming too, September 17, we saw them last year and they're great.

Wilson is a happenin' little town. From the tiny train run for kids by the Kiwanis to the stuff the city puts on to the great arts festivals and big-name shows we get (Easyriders motorcycle mag puts on a show here, I got a lot of photos to put online), this is just not the 'quiet little burg' I thought it was when we moved here. Glad you enjoyed it!
